Professional,
Scientific and Technical Activities in Vietnam have developed steadily in the
recent years after the economic downturn of the whole economy from the late
2008 and the early 2009. The industry has also been able to contribute
marginally to the economic development of Vietnam. Determined as one of the
important engine to enhance productivity and the competitiveness of the
economy, the industry has received great consideration from the authorities as
there is still much room for improvement. Foreign companies have led the way
for innovation in professional services such as audit, tax or legal services.
And FDI in science and technology has increased focusing on hi-tech parks, big
hospitals in some key cities in Vietnam.

The professional,
scientific and technical services sector can be divided into seven subsectors
at the division level of the Statistical classification of economic activities
in the European Community (NACE). Among these, there were three subsectors that
dominated the overall level of activity in terms of their contribution to value
added and employment. Legal and accounting activities (Division 69) combined
with the activity of head offices and of management consultancy activities
(Division 70) and architectural, engineering, technical testing and analysis
activities (Division 71).
