Madagascar Wishes to Develop Ties with Vietnam

Madagascan Prime Minister Kolo Christophe and Deputy Prime Minister Rakotovao Rivo have expressed their wish to enhance bilateral cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in the fields of food security, infrastructure and export.
They made the wish at a banquet held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Madagascar in the capital Antanavario on September 11 in celebration of the 69th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).
Addressing the event, newly-accredited Vietnam Ambassador to Madagascar and Mozambique Nguyen Van Trung affirmed the great significance of the September 2, 1945 historical event when President Ho ChiMinh read out the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
He informed the host country’s leaders of the impressive achievements Vietnam has made during its national development and renewal under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, noting that Vietnam has always been an active and responsible member of the international community with its increasing role and position in the region and the world atlarge.
On the occasion, the ambassador presentedoverseas Vietnamese in Madagascar bags of rice grown by Vietnamese agriculturalexperts in Mozambique with a hope that Vietnamese rice will be planted in Madagascar in the near future.
He also announced the Prime Minister’s decision to open Vietnam ’s Honorary Consulate in Madagascar , which aims topromote the image of Vietnam and support the Vietnamese community here.
